About me

Although I intend to tell you a bit about me, I just want to first emphasise that Therapy is about you. It’s a space for your experiences, reflections, and growth. While it’s natural to be curious about the person you’re journeying with, therapists are trained not to share about themselves in ways that shift focus from you. This creates space for your story, without you feeling like you need to compare yourself or your choices to mine. I may offer insight into my life where it helps you feel comfortable or to explain why certain aspects of therapy work as they do, but ultimately, this space is for you — and for many, it’s about time it was about you.

A bit about me: I grew up in South London. I am of mixed African and Caribbean heritage and second-generation British. Growing up in London — a true melting pot of cultures, classes, and communities — and navigating multiple cultural worlds gave me an intimate understanding of different faiths, cultures, and experiences. I learnt what it felt like to belong, to stand apart, to feel both connected and excluded. These experiences shaped my ability to understand identity, connection, difference, and the unspoken expectations people carry.

I’m a wife and a mother of three, one of whom has Down syndrome. I’ve also experienced miscarriage and stillbirth, which have deepened my understanding of grief, resilience, and the demands of caring for others while also caring for yourself. I know what it’s like to juggle work, study, family, and self-care, and to try to find balance when life feels overwhelming. These lived experiences inform my empathy and understanding, allowing me to sit with people in their struggles and offer a space where they feel heard, seen, and understood without judgment.

Professionally, I am a Psychotherapist, Trauma Therapist, Counsellor, and Clinical Supervisor. I am a member of BAATN (Black and Asian Therapy Network) and a registered, accredited member of the BACP — reflecting my commitment to high professional standards and my position as a leader in the field. Having started as a registered member, I progressed to accredited status, demonstrating my dedication and accountability in practice.

As a Clinical Supervisor, I take clinical responsibility and oversee the work of other therapists and trainees, supporting them to develop their practice safely and confidently. I have extensive therapeutic experience working with individuals, couples, families, and children across schools, charities, the NHS, and private practice, with over 3,000+ supervised one-to-one counselling hours. I also have a particular passion for working with counselling students, supporting them in their growth and development, and equipping them to provide the transformative gift of therapy.

I work integratively, with my core training in Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, and Existential approaches. I also draw on Brief Therapy, Creative Therapy, Gestalt, Solution-Focused, Play Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Relational, Humanistic, and Transpersonal approaches. This allows me to tailor therapy to the unique needs of each client and bring depth to complex challenges, including trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, immigration and relocation, identity, disability, intellectual learning differences, family and relationship difficulties, and more. I have worked with people carrying deep shame — whether through what they have experienced or what they have done — and I believe therapy can be a space where shame loosens its hold, and freedom and self-acceptance can take root. I also believe that when words are hard to find, creative approaches can help emotions, thoughts, and feelings emerge safely.

My earlier career was rooted in the City, where I held leadership roles across sectors such as sales, recruitment, insurance, banking, and education. As a qualified PRINCE2 Project Manager, I oversaw high-value projects and programmes, gaining first-hand experience of corporate strategy, organisational dynamics, and the pressures of performance and change. Alongside this, my training in business, law, and politics deepened my understanding of complex systems and human behaviour — insights that now enrich my work as a therapist.

I am a person of faith, a wife, a mother, a daughter (to my parents), a friend, a colleague, and a neighbour — navigating the complexities of these roles has shaped my understanding of human experience. I am approachable, flexible, and hard to offend. I encourage clients to ask questions they may have or ask for changes in support they might need, and I will always respond honestly about my capacity, working flexibly where possible. My practice is grounded in empathy, confidentiality, and supporting clients to find their own strength, resilience, and authenticity.

I look forward to learning more about you, understanding your story, and supporting you in creating the space and clarity you need in your life.
