Understanding your Core-YP Score
After completing your CORE-YP (Core Outcome in Routine Evaluation – YP) form, you’ll receive a total score. Your total score provides a snapshot of how you’ve been feeling emotionally and psychologically.
This isn’t a diagnosis, but a guide to help you and your therapist understand your current well-being and highlight areas where additional support might be helpful.
Scores range from 0 to 40, with higher scores indicating greater levels of emotional distress. If anything in your score raises questions or feels concerning, please speak with your London Counsellors therapist — they can help you explore what it means for you and your journey in counselling.
Score Range, What It Means and How You Might Feel
0–10 – Low or Non-Clinical Level
You’re likely managing well overall. You may experience normal ups and downs, but generally you’re coping effectively with life’s challenges. Your therapist can help you reflect on ways to maintain this balance.
11–20 – Mild Distress
You might be feeling a bit more stressed, anxious, or low than usual. Most areas of life are still manageable, but talking this through with your counsellor can help you process these feelings and develop coping strategies.
21–30 – Moderate Distress
You may be finding certain emotions or situations difficult to manage. Low mood, anxiety, or challenges in relationships could be affecting daily life. Your therapist can support you in exploring these feelings safely and help you find practical ways to manage them.
31–40 – Severe Distress
You may be feeling overwhelmed or finding it hard to cope. These feelings are valid and deserve care and attention. Your counsellor is here to provide support and guidance — you don’t have to face this alone, and together you can work on strategies to feel safer and more in control.
